Bilingual Sprouts Dual Language Alternative to Preschool Program
About Our Program
This educationally oriented separation program affords your child the best aspects of our enrichment program while offering your children a positive first school experience. Our mission is to provide each student with a high-quality, unique, first steps to a dual language school experience, working closely with families who value bilingualism and a play-based learning. We will cultivate and provide a strong foundation for the Spanish language so that children gain an understanding of the importance of being bilingual and bi-cultural. More importantly, we aim to provide a rich, hands-on curriculum and learning environment that encourages children to experience their worlds through play, movement, the arts, and creative expression. We believe that a good early foundation enables children to gain a love for learning which continues throughout their academic careers. Last but not least, it is our mission to foster children’s individual talents and interests to enable them to become self-confident and inquisitive.
Key Components Of Program
Our students are taught all academic content in Spanish. Our program is taught in an immersive Spanish environment due to the communities request for an immersive Spanish-speaking preschool program.
Activities in this stimulating 3 hour class include: group welcome, circle songs, snacks, music, storytelling, large and small group activities, art and sensory play, as well as science and math exploration. Appropriate transitions between activities allow your child to recognize and become familiar with the structure of the day, and to look forward to the next activity.
Focusing on the relationships between physical, social/emotional, language, cognitive, and artistic development, the Bilingual Sprouts philosophy and approach teaches children appropriate social skills needed for school and life. A small teacher-child ratio ensures individualized attention as he or she makes the first transitions to separation and builds trusting relationships with his or her teachers.
-Students of all language backgrounds will learn together.
-We aim to enroll students who come from bilingual homes, Spanish-speaking homes, and some English-speaking homes, with the balance being approximately 50/50 in terms of language dominance.
- The curriculum and learning targets support school readiness.
-Our student: teacher ratio is 6:1 with a max.
-We are both New York City Certified teachers in early childhood, bilingual education and art education.
-We are also both CPR and first aid and Mat (Medicine administration trained) trained and certified.
